How to Choose the Correct Size Frame
Selecting the right size frame for your glasses is crucial for both comfort and style. Here’s a guide to help you choose the perfect fit:
1. Understand Frame Measurements
Eyeglass frames are measured in millimetres and typically have three key measurements:
Lens Width:
The horizontal width of one lens, usually between 40-60 mm.
Bridge Width:
The distance between the two lenses, typically between 14-24 mm.
Temple Length:
The length of the arm pieces, usually between 120-150 mm.
These measurements are usually written on the inside of the temple arm or the bridge of your current glasses.
2. Measure Your Current Glasses
If you already have a pair of glasses that fits well, check the measurements on them. Use these measurements as a reference when choosing a new frame.
3. Consider Your Face Shape
Different frame sizes and shapes complement different face shapes:
Round Face:
Choose frames that are wider than they are tall to elongate the face.
Oval Face:
Most frame sizes work well; try to maintain balance with your face’s proportions.
Square Face:
Opt for frames that are more rounded or oval to soften angular features.
Heart-Shaped Face:
Look for frames that are wider at the bottom to balance a broader forehead.
4. Use a Ruler or Tape Measure
If you don’t have current glasses to refer to, use a ruler or tape measure to get your face measurements:
- Measure across your face at the level of your eyes for lens width.
- Measure the distance between your eyes for bridge width.
- Measure from your ear to the tip of your nose for temple length.
5. Virtual Try-On Tool
Although not yet available, our upcoming virtual try-on tool will allow you to see how different frames look on your face using your device’s camera.
6. Fit and Comfort
Width:
The frame should fit snugly without being too tight. The temples should sit comfortably around your ears without pinching.
Bridge:
The bridge should rest comfortably on your nose without slipping or leaving marks.
Temples:
The arms should be long enough to fit over your ears without pressing too tightly.
7. Check for Adjustability
Some frames offer adjustable nose pads and flexible temple arms for a customised fit.
